Motorists in part of Kent will need to plan ahead as a busy route is set for a full weekend closure. Luton Road in Chatham will be shut on both Saturday and Sunday (August 30 and 31), including overnight, for improvement works.

The closure will be in effect between the A2 Chatham Hill and Castle Road. Additionally, Bank Street and Short Street will be closed at the junction with Luton Road.

This is to allow resurfacing and highway improvement works to be completed along the busy route. Such works will also involve the construction of raised tables as Medway Council continues to deliver its road safety scheme aimed at reducing accidents and improving travel around the cluster of towns.
