LINCOLN, Neb. —

Thirteen Nebraska state lawmakers signed a letter on Wednesday , urging transparency and accountability regarding the "Cornhusker Clink" ICE detention facility set to come to Nebraska.

The state senators sent the letter to Sen. Carolyn Bosn, chair of the Judiciary Committee. In it, they urged her to hold an interim study "with all deliberate speed" so members of the public and lawmakers can get on the same page as Gov. Jim Pillen.

"Constituents reach out to me all the time asking what I know," Sen. George Dungan said in an interview Thursday. "And my answer is that I'm learning about a lot of this from the press... I think a hearing from the Judiciary Committee is the exact right venue to have these conversations." [related id='4a16db3b-856a-4f5b-9416-88222b464963' ali
