BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ( WBRC ) - In what was a high scoring and offensive affair, Thursday night at Protective Stadium originally looked like it could’ve been a Week 1 upset before UAB ended up coming out on top 52 - 42 over Alabama State.
The Blazers began the game with a field goal on their first drive, but just two plays later, Alabama State took the lead on their first offensive drive after quarterback Andrew Body broke free for a 60-yard touchdown run.
The Blazers answered with their own scoring drive, one that took 11-plays and almost 5:00 off the clock when Jalen Kitna connected with Iverson Hooks on an 8-yard touchdown pass to take a 10-7 after one quarter of play.
