EUGENE, Ore-- It's only once in a lifetime that a player gets to experience his final time on the field at the high school level. Heading into the 2025 football season, that's exactly what senior Willamette running back Maveryck Akers will get to do.
A season ago, the former Roseburg Indian had a stellar season in his first year with the Wolverines. On the ground, the stout running back rushed for nearly 1,110 yards, racking up nearly 110 yards per game along with 18 touchdowns according to MaxPreps.
While the senior appears to be ready for another incredible season as the program makes the jump back to the 6A level, for the first time since 2017, he also plans to enjoy this final season as long as he can.
