A group of 15 vital workers at a Scottish care home are facing potential deportation because of a red tape crisis. ‌

Certificates of Sponsorship for the qualified carers , who have worked in Scotland for years, were cancelled because of changes in the ownership of the company that employs them. ‌

The women were told by the Home Office they will not be able to keep doing their jobs at Burlington Court Care Home in Glasgow, which witnessed 16 suspected covid deaths in 2020, without valid, updated certificates. ‌

Union bosses are demanding an urgent rethink on the decision, which is forcing one worker - who had just returned from a holiday in her home country - to board a deportation flight on Monday back to Nigeria.
