An elderly man has died in a tragic Glasgow road crash on Thursday, August 28.

The incident happened at around 12pm on the A82 Great Western Road at Knightswood Road and involved a black Ford Puma.

The driver and sole occupant of the vehicle, an 85-year-old man, was taken to the Queen Elizabeth University Hospital, where he sadly died.

An eyewitness told GlasgowLive that the car had “ploughed through barriers”.

Officers are now appealing for information and urge any witnesses or anyone in the area at the time with dash-cam footage to come forward.

Sergeant Neal Galbraith said: “Our thoughts are with the family of friends of the man who has died at this difficult time.

“Enquiries are ongoing and we are appealing to anyone who witnessed the crash to contact us.
