Police have introduced new hi-tech systems in a bid to crack down on shoplifting in Coventry . Criminals will be monitored in real time as patrols are stepped up on Broadgate , Upper Precinct and Lower Precinct.

Coventry Police has launched the initiative in partnership with the Coventry Business Improvement District (BID). Together, they have introduced new systems to ensure crimes can be easily reported.

Security staff are working with businesses on ways to report shoplifting. Stuart Grainger, from Coventry BID, said they have also been educating retailers on the importance of logging any incidents that have occurred.
