UPSHUR COUNTY, Texas — Big Sandy ISD will operate on a two-hour delay Friday despite law enforcement capturing an armed suspect in Smith County.

BSISD tells CBS19 even though the suspect was captured, they will still delay classes to put parents at ease.

The district says:

All school buses will run on a two-hour delay.

School will begin two hours later than normal.

Parents are encouraged to walk with their children to the bus stop and remain with them until they are safely on the bus

District leaders emphasized that student safety remains their top priority as the situation continues to develop. Parents with questions are encouraged to contact their child’s campus principal.
