ORANGEBURG, S.C. (WCSC) - The Orangeburg County sheriff has confirmed a man arrested in connection with a crash that killed a South Carolina Highway Patrol trooper is facing an additional charge.

Anthony Aydlette, 45, of Hanahan now faces a charge of reckless homicide, Sheriff Leroy Ravenell said at a Friday morning news conference.

That charge was filed in addition to a charge of driving under suspension in connection with the early-morning crash on Aug. 10 in which Trooper First Class Dennis Ricks, 30, was struck by a box truck investigators say Aydlette was driving.

Ricks died three days later from his injuries.

Ravenell said Ricks did everything right on the night of the crash and that Aydlette did everything wrong.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
