PLATTE COUNTY, Mo. —

Students and staff at two Platte County schools moved buildings Friday morning after a nearby gas line was hit.

The Platte County R-3 School District shared a note with families Friday that students at Siegrist Elementary and Platte County High School were relocated "out of an abundance of caution" after the city of Platte City alerted the district that a gas line on Thomas Drive was struck. Advertisement

All students and staff are safe, the district said. Siegrist students moved to Platte City Middle School and high school students moved to the Platte City YMCA.

The district assured parents that they do not need to pick up their students, as the school day is continuing.

The district said it would let families know when they were able to return.
