LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - The Lincoln Police Department wants to remind the public about safety and security as the first Husker football home game is quickly approaching on Saturday, Sept. 6.

LPD’s focus on game day is traffic direction, before and after the game. LPD will have officers working off-duty directing traffic at numerous intersections in and around downtown to get fans in vehicles and on foot where they need to go safely and efficiently.

Officers anticipate a lane or two of traffic on 9th and 10th streets will be closed due to missing sidewalks so pedestrians can get to and from the stadium without significant delays. During the game, many LPD officers assist the security efforts of UNLPD inside the stadium.
