INDIANAPOLIS — U.S. Marshals and Chicago police officers took an Indianapolis father into custody after his 2-year-old daughter accidentally shot and killed herself on the city's near northeast side in July.

IMPD detectives learned 23-year-old Leon'ta Anderson had fled to Chicago.

On Thursday, Aug. 28, U.S. Marshals and officers with the Chicago Police Department located Leon'ta and arrested him for his active warrant in Indianapolis, where he will be extradited.

Leon'ta is charged with neglect of a dependent resulting in death.

Just after noon on July 11, IMPD officers were called to Methodist Hospital on a report of a walk-in person shot. Police say they found 2-year-old Harmony Anderson dead from a gunshot wound.
