A teenage boy was arrested after being found in possession of a BB gun at a Stillwater Area High School football game on Thursday evening.

Oak Park Heights Police Department said it received several reports of a student at the game with a potential weapon, and possible threats were being made.

The suspect, a 17-year-old boy from White Bear Lake who was not a student at Stillwater Public Schools, initially fled on foot when approached by officers.

He was eventually caught and found to be carrying a BB gun. He was taken to Washington County Jail in Stillwater.

It happened at a time of heightened concern about school safety following the mass shooting at Annunciation Church in Minneapolis on Wednesday.
