(WENY) -- Governor Kathy Hochul says older adults across New York will soon have more ways to get around.
Hochul announced the expansion of the state’s partnership with “ GoGoGrandparent ,” a program that provides no-cost rides to seniors. The state says the program will add 24,000 rides, building on the 1.7 million trips already offered each year through the New York State Office for the Aging.
The service began in 2022 and was designed to help older adults who don’t have access to transportation. Officials say the goal is to reduce isolation and help people stay active in their communities.
Locally, participating counties in the Southern Tier include Chemung, Schuyler, Steuben, Tompkins and Yates.
