The Columbia Public Works Department announced a delay to pavement maintenance scheduled for dozens Columbia streets, according to a Friday news release from the city.

Beginning Tuesday, Lionmark Contracting will apply surface treatments to streets that previously received chip seal. According to the release, the project aims to extend the life of the streets and improve driving conditions.

The work was initially planned for Aug. 27-Sept. 12.

The city said the streets scheduled for maintenance, in this order, are:

Prairie Lane from North Creasy Springs Road to concrete section near West Prairieview Drive

West Prairieview Drive from North Creasy Springs Road to Prairie Lane

Blue Ridge Road from North Garth Avenue to Piranha Court

Lovejoy Lane from Deer Run Court to Grace Ellen Drive
