EUGENE, Ore. - The McKenzie Willamette Medical Center is moving forward with plans to open a new emergency department in West Eugene by 2027. This much-needed facility aims to address the lack of immediate emergency care in the area.
Dr. Jonathan Wright, the medical director overseeing the project, highlighted the critical need for this addition.
"As we're all aware, you know, there is not immediate access to emergency care in the city of Eugene" said Wright.
The new department will be located between West 6th and 7th avenues and will operate 24/7 with at least 12 beds. Despite not offering overnight stays, the facility promises comprehensive emergency services.
