SPRINGFIELD, Ore. - A dramatic chase unfolded in Springfield early on Friday as police pursued a reckless driver in a stolen vehicle.
According to the Springfield Police Department, the chase began at about 2:20 a.m. on Aug. 29 when an officer attempted to stop the suspect near Beltline Road and Gateway Street. The driver fled, leading police on a dangerous pursuit into Eugene. The vehicle, reported stolen from Salem, made a U-turn west of Coburg Road and began traveling eastbound in the westbound lanes and collided with an SPD officer on Beltline Road.
