ERWIN, Tenn. (WJHL) — Erwin Police Chief Regan Tilson, who was placed on leave in July after a failed breathalyzer test, has been terminated, according to a release from the Town of Erwin.
The release said the following about the failed breathalyzer, which Tilson took on June 30:
"Chief Tilson‘s first test at 11:04 AM indicated a BAL of .080 and then a confirming test was conducted at 11:21 AM, which indicated a BAL of .066. The Town of Erwin Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy for safety sensitive positions has a threshold BAL of .04. Tilson’s confirming result of .066 constituted a failed test."
The release said based on the results of Tilson's test and after an investigation, the Town Recorder determined that the termination of Chief Tilson was warranted.
