The B.C. government says it is stepping into a “lead role” to do the necessary work to make Bamfield Main Road safe for traffic again.
The stretch of the road that was affected by the Mount Underwood wildfire is managed by a private company, Mosaic Forest Management.
The government previously said it was “lending its expertise” to Mosaic to complete the necessary work, but now it’s taking over in co-operation with Mosaic.
This is due to the complex nature of the work, and the similarities from the Highway 4 closures due to the Cameron Bluffs wildfire in 2023.
