JOHNSON CITY, Tenn. (WJHL) — As Johnson City has settled a civil suit for $28 million with alleged serial rapist Sean Williams' victims and Williams's criminal cases proceed, the case that arguably launched it all has seen little movement in recent months — something that doesn't shock one area attorney.
"It's really interesting to see how this is playing out," Corey Shipley told News Channel 11 this week of the Dahl v Johnson City case filed in June 2022 by former Special Assistant U.S. Attorney Kateri "Kat" Dahl.
The primary issues currently hanging over the case are the city's motion for summary judgment — a standard effort to get elements of the lawsuit ruled immaterial and a move that can sometimes be tantamount to dismissal — and Dahl's attorneys' motion to reopen discovery. Both s
