JONESBOROUGH, Tenn., (WJHL) - The Jackson Theatre in Jonesborough is celebrating its 80th anniversary with film screenings, live music, and a raffle on Sunday night.
The theatre was first opened in 1945 and closed in the early 1960s. It reopened just last year as an old-fashioned venue for movies and concerts.
"We show classic films and newer ones," said Jackson Theatre's assistant operations director Lori Powell. "We offer a lot of community events. We work with a lot of different entities, like storytelling and the McKinney Center."
Through Sunday, the theatre is celebrating the opening of the original Jackson Theatre by showing films that premiered when it first opened its doors 80 years ago.
