COOPERSVILLE — Looking to prove its a force to be reckoned with this season, the Ludington varsity football team made the trip to Coopersville on Thursday for a non-conference clash with the Broncos.

The Orioles took the lead early and never relented, dominating Coopersville, 40-13 to open the season 1-0.

“This was a great win for our team and program,” Ludington head coach Charlie Gunsell said. “Coming down to Coopersville and playing in this environment against a very good football team speaks volumes about our kids. We are excited to get back to work next week as we prepare for Mason County.”

Two minutes into the contest, Ludington opened the scoring on a one-yard run from senior quarterback Cam Gunsell. A bad snap resulted in a botched extra point attempt and the Orioles led 6-0.
