Hot afternoons are in the forecast for Northern California as the calendar turns from August to September.

Labor Day weekend will feature comfortable mornings that quickly turn into toasty afternoons with strong sunshine.

Valley temperatures will be in the low 60s the next few mornings. Afternoons highs will range between 98 and 101 degrees. Winds will be light much of the day, with a steady delta breeze picking up after 6 pm each day.

Foothills temperatures will start in the mid 60s at sunrise and peak in the low to mid 90s in the middle of the afternoon.

In the Sierra, expect dry weather through Labor Day with chilly early mornings and warm afternoons. Lows will be in the low 40s around lake Tahoe. Highs will hit the low to mid 80s.
