Anyone who has lived in Perth long enough has probably felt unfairly criticised at some point: we don’t know how to merge, our shops and restaurants don’t open late enough and now, how we order at the pub is being attacked.

After heated online discussion provoked by a Reddit post titled “How to pub, has it been forgotten in WA?” some in the hospitality sector said there was an element of truth to complaints about a perceived lack of proper patron behaviour when frequenting a venue.

Frisk Small Bar owner John Mc Andrew says customers’ inability to get to the front of the bar has seen him turn into a part-time traffic controller.

“I think people feel like its like waiting at the cinema or Department of Transport queue — it’s not, bars are interactive,” Mr Mc Andrew told The Sunday Times.
