HAMDEN, Conn. — Four people are without a home after an early morning house fire in Hamden, according to the Hamden Fire Dept.
Firefighters were called to a two-family home on the 200 block of Morse Street at 2:18 a.m. Saturday, and upon arrival, found heavy fire coming from the porch that extended to the attic. Fire crews worked to extinguish the fire while rescue crews searched the home for occupants.
There was one person in the building at the time of the fire, and she escaped after a smoke alarm went off, firefighters said. EMS evaluated her on scene.
Four residents - one first-floor occupant and three second-floor occupants - have been displaced. The Red Cross has offered assistance to the displaced individuals, firefighters said.
