John Deaton plans to make a final decision about running for U.S. Senate by October, and he is canvassing political consultants to help him run a potential campaign against Sen. Ed Markey, he told the Herald in an interview.
Deaton said earlier this year that he was considering challenging Markey as a Republican. But he conditioned a bid on whether a Trump-endorsed candidate joined the fray, and if he believed he could raise more money than when he challenged U.S. Sen. Elizabeth Warren last year.
