TOLEDO, Ohio — Toledo firefighters spent part of the early evening battling a house fire in central Toledo on Saturday.
Toledo Fire and Rescue Department says an abandoned home on East Bancroft near Franklin Avenue caught fire around 5 p.m.
Smoke and flames were could be seen emanating from the structure, which sustained heavy damage.
Firefighters were able to extinguish the fire around 5:20 p.m.
Firefighters on scene say the fire was “suspicious” but offered no further details.
An arson investigation has been opened.
According to Lucas County Auditor’s Office records the home is owned by Mercy Property Holdings.
