MANHATTAN, Kan. — Kansas State's Joe Jackson caught a 6-yard touchdown pass with 42 seconds remaining as No. 17 Kansas State avoided a major upset in a 38-35 victory over UND on Saturday at Bill Snyder Family Stadium.

In the debut of Fighting Hawks head coach Eric Schmidt, UND nearly pulled off the program's first win against a power-conference opponent.

UND led 35-31 with 4:19 left in the fourth quarter after Sawyer Seidl scored from 20 yards out.

After the Wildcats' go-ahead score, UND reached midfield before turning the ball over on downs with 5 seconds to go.
