IOWA CITY, IOWA (NEWS10) -- Playing in front of a sold-out crowd of almost 70,000 at iconic Kinnick Stadium, the University at Albany football team put up a valiant effort against the University of Iowa - a Power-Four program - in Saturday's season opener. Ultimately, the Hawkeyes just had too much firepower.

UAlbany held a lead early in the second quarter against the perennial Big Ten Conference power, but Iowa rattled off 31 unanswered points to pull away and defeat the Great Danes, 34-7.

"Any time you come out to an environment like this, you're fighting a lot of things," said Ambrose. "They're (Iowa) a phenomenal team. They're great everywhere. But I was really, really proud of our guys, and how they battled for a full 60 minutes."
