PASADENA, Calif. (ABC4 Sports) - This is not last year's Utah team.

With new quarterback Devon Dampier leading the way behind one of the most dominant offensive lines in the nation, the Utes ground the Bruins of UCLA to a pulp Saturday night at the Rose Bowl, cruising to a 43-10 victory.

The Utes converted 14 of 16 third down chances, and racked up 286 yards rushing in the impressive season-opening victory.

Playing in his first game for Utah, Dampier completed 21 of 25 passes for 206 yards and two touchdowns, while also rushing for 87 yards and another TD.

“I felt like we were clicking on all cylinders,” Dampier said. “We played football at our best.”

Meanwhile the Utes defense held highly-touted UCLA quarterback Nico Iamaleava to just 136 yards passing and one touchdown.
