TROY, Ala. ( WSFA ) - Troy University says its police officers responded to an on-campus shooting incident Saturday night that left a female student suffering from non-life threatening injuries.

The incident happened around 9:30 p.m. near the Trojan Fitness Center. That’s just off George Wallace Drive.

The university issued a statement at 10:20 p.m. saying everyone should stay away from the Trojan Fitness Arena where the person was found.

A short time later, at 10:45 p.m., the campus police department confirmed the victim suffered what is believed to be an injury to her foot. She was transported for medical care.

A campus safety alert was issued to students, but the campus is not on lockdown and police say they do not believe there is any ongoing threat to the public.
