Early Sunday morning, a sailboat hit the Causeway near mile marker 14 on Lake Pontchartrain. Both passengers, a man and a woman, went overboard.

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued the woman, but the man is still missing. Advertisement

The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries is leading the investigation. Members of the STPSO Marine Division are assisting, along with the Jefferson Parish Sheriff’s Office and the U.S. Coast Guard.

Authorities are maintaining a high police presence on Lake Pontchartrain as rescue and recovery operations continue.
