RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) — Dixie Trail is still closed after a hit-and-run crash brought down power lines Sunday morning, police said.

According to a Facebook post from the Raleigh Police Department, Dixie Trail closed just before 8 a.m. after power lines fell across the roadway.

Raleigh police confirmed with CBS 17 that the lines came down after a car hit the power pole, snapping it in half. Police said the suspect of the hit-and-run crash fled on foot.

Police said the road is still closed at this time, though no officers remain on the scene. Barricades have been put up to allow repair crews to re-erect the fallen power pole.

Police were unable to provide a time for the road to reopen.

This is a developing story. Check back for details.
