LAREDO, Tex. (KGNS) - Laredo City Council will be discussing several topics during a meeting on Tuesday, September 2, including improvements to railroad infrastructure, raises for city employees and more.

City officials will discuss potentially authorizing a capital grant fund to allocate $5 million for the Federal Railroad Administration Consolidated Rail Infrastructure and Safety Improvements grant for the Downtown Laredo Rail Corridor Safety Planning Project.

This is an improvement project that will include the installation, repair or improvement of railroad crossing signals, gates and related technologies, roadway improvements such as medians or other barriers, safety engineering improvements to reduce risk and more.
