MINOT, N.D. (KMOT) – One of the citizens who had expressed interest in filling the vacant Minot City Council has voluntarily withdrawn from consideration due to a residency issue.

A spokesperson for the city of Minot confirmed Aryan Siadat withdrew because he had not lived in the city for at least nine months, a requirement to serve in municipal office.

There are still 15 candidates who submitted letters of intent to serve. You can find the full list here .

Those who wish to be considered are asked to attend a special meeting Tuesday, Sept. 2 at 4 p.m. at the City Council chambers where they may be asked to speak before the council and answer questions.

The council may make a decision on filling the vacancy at the regular meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.
