ERIE COUNTY, Ohio (WOIO) - Three people died after a crash stopped traffic on the Ohio Turnpike Sunday morning.

According to a release from the Ohio State Highway Patrol (OSHP), the deaths came from two separate crashes.

Around 6:41 a.m., a semi was driving eastbound on the Turnpike when it went off the road and hit a tow truck stopped in the shoulder, according to the release. The tow truck had its emergency lights on.

The passenger of the semi, 32-year-old Dantrail Reese of Indianapolis, died from her injuries on scene.

The tow truck driver was outside of their vehicle at the time of the crash and was uninjured.

The driver of the semi was taken to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

As traffic was backed up from the first crash, a van rear-ended a semi around 7:34 a.m.
