CLEVELAND, Ohio — Three people died Sunday morning on the Ohio Turnpike after a pair of crashes west of Lorain County.

Troopers of the Ohio State Highway Patrol said the first incident took place shortly after 6:30 a.m. when an eastbound truck, driven by Anthony Jenson, 31, of Indianapolis, struck a tow truck that had stopped on the shoulder with its emergency lights on. The crash took place in Milan Township in Erie County.

Jenson suffered injuries but was expected to recover. A passenger in his truck, Dantrail Reese, 32, also of Indianapolis, died. The tow truck’s driver was outside of the vehicle, and he was not hurt.

As traffic backed up, a second crash took place. Nearly an hour later, a Toyota Sienna, driven by Hongwei Wang, 56, of Chicago, struck a tractor-trailer from behind.
