Steinbach RCMP are investigating a fatal collision after a pedestrian was struck by a vehicle on Provincial Road 311 in the RM of Ste. Anne early Friday morning.

Police reported receiving a call at 6:15 a.m. on Aug. 30 regarding a man walking in the traffic lane. While officers were on their way, an update came in that the man had been hit by a vehicle.

Emergency responders arrived to find a 27-year-old man from the RM of Hanover dead at the scene.

The driver, a 61-year-old man from Steinbach, remained at the site of the crash. No other injuries were reported.

RCMP said the investigation is ongoing with assistance from the RCMP Criminal Collision Investigation Team and a Forensic Collision Reconstructionist.
