OAKRIDGE, Ore. - The Emigrant Fire , sparked by lightning in August 24th, has spread to 21,118 acres and zero percent containment roughly 20 miles southeast of Oakridge.
According to the U.S Forest Service and the Northwest Incident Management Team 13, crews are utilizing roads treated during the 2009 Tumblebug Fire to enable quicker access for full suppression efforts.
On August 30th, an Unmanned Aerial System identified heat signatures along the northern perimeter. Crews are focusing on securing Sacandaga Campground and continuing brush work between Willamette National Forest and private timber land.
Weather conditions are expected to heat up with temperatures in the 90s starting Monday, September 1st, potentially bringing dry thunderstorms midweek.
