PORTLAND, Ore. - As thousands of students across Oregon head back to campus, the Oregon Health Authority (OHA) is raising awareness about the increase in sports betting among young adults.
In a press release issued just a day before the 2025 college football season kicked off, OHA said they are encouraging families to discuss the risks of gambling with students before they head to college.
"Many states are dealing with the rise in sports betting among college students, and Oregon is right there with them," said Greta Coe, problem gambling program manager at OHA. "We have to start talking about risky behaviors early on and make sure young people know there’s support if gambling becomes a problem," Coe said.
