MAURY COUNTY, Tenn. (WSMV) - Most Midstate counties are now experiencing drought conditions, and local fire departments are urging residents to take extra precautions to prevent wildfires — especially as dry weather and high winds create dangerous conditions.

“We have to monitor weather conditions, and we’re always looking at things like wind speed,” said Savannah Maddison, Public Information Officer for Maury County Fire Department. “When it comes to the spread of these wildfires, it can happen so much faster than citizens expect.”
