Middlesbrough may have eight new arrivals already this summer, but there is at least one more they expect to conclude on transfer deadline day.

After showing patience over the course of the summer, Boro have pounced at the last moment to secure long-term striker target David Strelec after Slovan Bratislava failed to qualify for the Champions League or Europa League. There is confidence that a deal will be concluded before the summer transfer window closes at 7 pm on Monday evening.

Strelec was a notable absentee from the Slovan Bratislava squad on Sunday as he made his way to Teesside to complete the formalities and conclude his move to Boro. It is, at this stage, expected he could be Boro’s ninth and final signing of the summer transfer window, though certain exits could change that
