The four-part drama, I Fought the Law, continues on ITV tonight, September 1, featuring Sheridan Smith as Ann Ming, a bereaved mother who embarked on a quest for justice for her daughter.

Julie Hogg, from Billingham , was tragically murdered at the tender age of 22 in 1989. Her mother, Ann, initiated a campaign to overturn the double jeopardy law that nearly allowed the murderer to escape punishment.

In the second episode, Ann is tormented by the image of her daughter's body, which she discovered concealed under the bath in her home. She channels her sorrow into pressuring the police for answers.

Simultaneously, she is struggling to prevent her marriage from disintegrating.

In the series, Daniel York Loh portrays Ann's husband, Charlie Ming.
