A Norton road will be closed until Thursday evening after a property demolition was halted when a digger fell onto its side. Napier Street has been closed at its junction with Norton Road with Stockton Council confirming it will Thursday evening, September 4, before it is likely to reopen.

Photographs from the scene on Wednesday show an excavator, which appears to have toppled onto its side on top of a pile of rubble on Norton Road, at the junction with Napier Street, Norton .

Workers at the scene have been told the demolition needed to be halted as the building is 'unsafe', Teesside Live understands. However, this has not been confirmed by official sources at this time.
