A bird strike on a plane landing at Teesside International Airport led to the cancellation of a flight to Amsterdam. The aircraft, which arrived at the airport on Tuesday morning, touched down safely following a "bird strike on landing".

One passenger has praised staff for the way the incident was dealt with. It's understood the bird strike occurred at around 9.30am and, as a result, an outgoing flight to Amsterdam Schiphol was cancelled.

A Teesside International Airport spokesperson said: "An inbound flight was subject to a bird strike on landing on Tuesday morning. The aircraft landed safely and all safety protocols were followed."
