Anas Sarwar has said he would “like to believe” Holyrood is safe after an MSP was charged over claims a secret camera was placed in a parliament toilet.
The Scottish Labour leader said he found the allegations against Colin Smyth “deeply distressing” and insisted Holyrood users deserved “dignity”.
Smyth was charged on August 5th with possessing indecent images of children and later charged over allegations about a hidden device in a parliament bathroom .
He was suspended by Labour after the party learned of allegations against the MSP.
Although a police sweep of the Parliament last week found no camera, Holyrood users have told the Record of their anxiety at using the toilets.
