TOLEDO, Ohio — Registration is open for the 29th annual " Clean Your Streams Day ," where volunteers across northwest Ohio will gather to remove trash from local waterways on Sept. 27.

The event is the region’s largest waterway cleanup, according to Partners for Clean Streams, the event's organizer. Since its start in 1997, more than 17,000 volunteers have helped remove over 500,000 pounds of trash from rivers, streams and ditches.

This year’s cleanup will begin at seven kickoff locations across the greater Toledo area:

Oregon Municipal Building

Glass City Metropark

Monroe Street United Methodist Church

Westwinds Metropark

Side Cut Metropark

University of Toledo

Woodlands Park

Volunteers can also register for a “clean-on-your-own” option, which allows participants to pick up
