BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- A 67-year-old California City man has been sentenced in connection to a deadly shooting in 2023.
Gordon Tripp was sentenced last week to six years in prison after pleading no contest to voluntary manslaughter in the death of Luis Esparza Jr., 21, according to court records.
A charge of first-degree murder was dismissed when Trip entered the no contest plea on Aug. 1.
The shooting occurred during a confrontation Dec. 8, 2023, at the front door of a home on Tamarack Avenue.
Esparza answered the door and exchanged words with someone others in the home heard but didn’t see — and whose voice one resident recognized as belonging to “Gordy,” according to court documents.
