BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) -- While the Paladino Fire didn't damage any structures, it got dangerously close to neighborhoods along the Kern River.
"At this time, it's 100% contained. Thankfully, we had help from Kern County Fire Department along with the city crews. We had a helicopter that was there, along with multiple dozers. It was a joint effort and they were able to get it contained last night," said A.J. Clark of the Bakersfield Fire Department.
A coordinated effort from the Bakersfield and Kern County Fire Departments helped suppress the flames early.
For Kimberly Swords, who watched blaze from her driveway, this fire was different --- neighbors could see the blaze, and feel the heat.
