PITTSFIELD, Mass. (WWLP) - An individual faces multiple assault charges after allegedly burning an American flag in Pittsfield last week.
The Pittsfield Police Department stated that last Wednesday, August 27, officers were called to Park Square at approximately 4:30 p.m. for reports of a person burning an American flag and causing a disturbance. Police had been notified of the same suspect burning a flag the previous day, but had been unable to locate them at the time.
Pittsfield police arrived at the park and located the suspect, noticing an open flame. When they asked the suspect what they were doing, the individual allegedly took out a second American flag and began to swing it near one of the officers' faces, almost striking them.
